“Sulat kahel” is a blackletter typeface inspired by various black letter influences ranging from fraktur, Schwabacher and Rotunda. It is an amalgamation of these 3 styles.
Sulat Kahel means “Brown writing” in Filipino. Sulat = Writing, Kahel = Brown. ✍🏽
The name comes from the inspiration and idea of the “Philippine blackletter style” that commonly use the black letter styling in its typography. This font is ideal for headlines, book covers, posters albums, and such to maximize the "style" of the letters fully. With proper caution, you may be able to use it in body type as well.
