Sampalok Sans is a display typeface inspired by its namesake, the tamarind. For Filipinos the sampalok is a very important ingredient used in some of our iconic dishes like sinampalukan and tamarind soup. But arguably the most popular of these is sinigang, one of the most delicious Filipino dishes there is. There is nothing like going home to the luscious smell of the sinigang that your mother is cooking in the kitchen. The warm feeling of the sour broth and "asim-kilig" cannot compare to any other dish out there. It is not a Pinoy kitchen without Sampalok, and its delicious aroma.
“The sampalok gives me such fond memories of my childhood, and this is why I chose it to be the inspiration behind my original typeface. I wanted it to represent me and my culture as well.” –Jacob
